The Young Pavement Artists Competition aims to capture young people's enthusiasm.

The competition was originally started 24 years ago to encourage children and young people to get together and through the creation of pavement art, generate awareness and funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

We're calling on schools, community groups and youth clubs across the UK to get involved by organising local event competitions. Playgrounds, pathways and even patios are all great venues to get chalking. Anyone who has difficulty getting down to pavement level can draw on paper.

There are five individual age categories to choose from:  4-5, 5-7,
7-11, 11-14, 14-19 and it is only £2 for each entry. There is also a mixed age group banner category.

The winners of each local event are entered into the National Competition. There are also additional prizes of a year's free subscription for National Geographic Kids magazine and Anorak magazines for runners-up.

The Muscular Dystrophy's Young Pavement Artist Competition is taking a break in 2011. In this time we will be reviewing the competition to ensure it is as fresh and relevant to all young people whilst raising awareness and valuable funds for people living with muscle disease.

Keep an eye out however for more news later in the year.
